Coach Shepherd has over 25 years of college baseball coaching experience. He began his career as the pitching coach at Oklahoma Christian University, and stayed there until 2000. During the summer of 2002, Shepherd was the pitching coach for the Canton Coyotes in the Frontier League. He then went to National Powerhouse, Oklahoma City University as the Pitching Coach under NAIA Hall of Fame Coaches Denney Crabaugh and Keith Lytle. At OCU, Shepherd coached 4 NAIA 1st Team All-Americans on the mound. OCU finished 3rd in the NAIA Wold Series in 2002, and as the National Runner-Up in 2003. In 2003, he took the Head Coaching position at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. In his 1st season at NJC, the Plainsmen won 38 games and finished runner-up in the Region IX Tournament. Upon leaving Northeastern in 2018 after 16 seasons, Shepherd compiled over 475 wins, averaging 30 per season, while adding two Region IX Championships and 2 Coach of the Year Awards. He has the most wins in Plainsmen baseball history. While at Northeastern, Shepherd was responsible for a complete transformation of the facility, including beginning a clubhouse project. He also oversaw departmental fundraising efforts, budgeting, scheduling, recruiting and mentoring athletes. The Plainsmen saw 10 players drafted in his 16 season, with 2 of those coming in the top 10 rounds. From 2013-2018 Coach Shepherd was the General Manager for the Sterling Xpress, a collegiate summer club in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. Along with helping to found the Xpress, they also won 2 league championships and had two appearances in the NBC World Series and 1 in the Bluegrass World Series. Shepherd also served as Manager for the 18u team with the USA Athlete Development Program in Puerto Rico in 2004-2006. He has served as an associate MLB Scout for the last 18 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and most recently the Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent the fall of 2018 as the Head Softball Coach at Kearney High School in Kearney, NE. Currently, he is the founder of Allsport Athletic Advising LLC.
In his playing career, he played for Seward County Community College under NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach Galen McSpadden and also for the Liberal Bee Jays of the Summer Jayhawk Collegiate League, before an arm injury ended his career.
Bryan holds a BS Degree in Kinesiology from Oklahoma Christian University with a minor in Business and a M.Ed in Kinesiology from University of Central Oklahoma.
Shepherd currently resides in Mount Horeb, WI with his wife Neala and two Children, Camden (18) and Braxton (12).
